Privacy Policy

Overview

Sprokbook is designed with a simple privacy principle: your data is yours. We do not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads.

Data Stored on Your Device

Sprokbook stores the following data locally on your device and in your private iCloud account:

• Camera information — names and settings for the film cameras you add to the app.
• Roll information — film stock names, frame capacities, and loading dates for each roll.
• Exposure data — timestamps, GPS coordinates, place names (via on-device reverse geocoding), and frame numbers for each logged exposure.
• Reference photos — optional photos taken with your device camera to help match frames to scans.
• App preferences — your chosen settings for photo quality, location accuracy, haptic feedback, and other preferences.

Location Data

When you grant location permission, Sprokbook records GPS coordinates at the time you log an exposure. This data is stored only on your device and in your private iCloud account. Location data is never sent to external servers.

Reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to a place name) is performed using Apple's on-device frameworks. Sprokbook does not make network requests to third-party geocoding services.

Location access is optional. You can disable it at any time in your device's Settings, and the app will continue to work without recording location data.

Camera and Photo Access

Sprokbook requests camera access only if you choose to capture reference photos. Photos are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account. They are not uploaded to any external service.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your Sprokbook data syncs across your devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Data Export

Sprokbook allows you to export your data as JSON or CSV files. Exported files are generated on your device and shared via the standard iOS share sheet. We do not receive or process your exported data.

Third-Party Services

Sprokbook does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app does not make network requests to any servers other than Apple's iCloud infrastructure for data sync.

Data Retention and Deletion

All data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account. You can delete individual exposures, rolls, or cameras within the app at any time. To remove all data, delete the app from your device. Since we do not collect or store any data on our servers, there is no data to request deletion of.

Children's Privacy

Sprokbook does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect personal information, no special provisions are required.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new policy and revise the "last updated" date above.
